Last Reflection, New Vision ELT

12th Week - Last Reflection, New Vision ELT

This is my last reflection... This little task was so hard to finish every week, before starting to write... Because of all the procrastination issues. Another reason was that I haven't been used to write reflections. Well, this course was the first time that I seriously 'write' something other than papers or assignments. However, every time I start writing my reflections all my experience consolidates and becomes concrete and it is so hard to finish every reflection because we have learned too much every week. I am going to start writing more and start reflecting more. This training also introduced me to the habit of reflection. Other than that, I have never expected that I would feel this sad about the ending of the training. I don't want to get more emotional in this public space, let's talk about the last week and websites.

So there were last two days that we completed the %20 of our work. We had other responsibilities and problems which were not on our plan. We could have acted accordingly, let's say we took our lesson. We worked hours before the presentation, I hope my teammates are not reading this as I reveal all of our secrets here... We couldn't make everything on time and the website still needs development. we knew that. However, it was so valuable to hear from our instructors and other teams, we were excited and curious.

Finally, it was the 3rd of February, the presentation day. I could see that everyone was shining and excited. But I guess I was the worst at managing my excitement :) I had everything on my mind, I have read 40 papers only about my topic, then what... I couldn't speak and I still can't believe that happened. Although it was a bit embarrassing, Melda Hocam, Dilek Hocam, and all my friends were so kind and supportive. I got a bit emotional and I still don't know why it happened. I was at work and couldn't focus properly on my presentation, maybe that was the reason. Anyways, I am over it... The three other teams have made great work we couldn't believe what we were capable of. I would like to write about their websites one by one in the future, until that time, here are their links and valuable topics.

It was also so beneficial for us to hear reviews of our peers and instructors because they helped us see some points we missed or didn't realize. It was so valuable to get feedback.

Easy way to learn! Online Courses

Hola Learnivores! I have been interested in online courses recently. Then I said to myself, why don't I share this with my Learnivores? With those courses, you don't necessarily have to go somewhere or sometimes even pay. The websites have a range of courses from coding to drawing and I have finished one on photography. Some of the websites' courses are accredited so you can have your certificate and add it on your cv etc. Here are some of them: https://www.coursera.org/ https://www.edx.org/ https://www.udacity.com/ https://www.udemy.com/ . Here is my certificate on Photography Fundamentals for Beginners from Udemy:

Critical Thinking and English as a Global Language

Last week, my friends from the ELT department and I started taking online courses as part of a research study I mentioned earlier ( click here to see ).  We are supposed to write reflections every week after our sessions on our blogs. I also believe it makes the experience more permanent. 1 st Week - 07.11.2020 Critical Thinking and English as a Global Language Firstly, we defined critical thinking. I had basic prior knowledge about what critical thinking was related to. However, after I did the pre-readings and take the test sent, it became more concrete in my mind. Starting the session, the trainer directed some questions about critical thinking, we discussed the questions as groups of four and everyone had their own duty in the group. Then, we shared what we discussed. I’ve learned that critical thinking is an important skill for people to organize their thoughts in a systematic way, find reliable sources of information, express themselves better. We defined strong and...
